KOMPANY BACKS FOSTER TO BOUNCE BACK
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany mentioned that getting Lyle Foster back into the swing of things is the club’s main target after he was sent off in their latest Premier League encounter earlier this week.
The South African striker has been a star turner for Burnley this season, while recording two goals and one assist in five Premier League games so far.
In Burnley’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Monday, the former Orlando Pirates star received a red card during the dying stages of the match, as Kompany defended Foster during his post-match interview.
It is a shame because of the effort he puts into the team and how he is establishing himself in the team, I think that is something you have put forward first, Kompany said after the match.
But he made a mistake. I am a little bit more cautious because he has been very open about mental health in the past so I will step away from it and just say ‘OK, make sure you are ready for the next game’.
He has done brilliantly for the team. He knows himself, the main thing for me is we get him back to the level he was.
He will be a big miss but that is why you build a squad. We have players who can play in this position and other players who can come in and add something.
