Joe Flacco joins the practice squad of the Browns with the intention of being added to the active roster.
On Friday, Flacco participated in a workout with the Browns as they attempted to acquire a new quarterback following Deshaun Watson’s season-long injury that sidelined him from throwing.
Dorian Thompson-Robinson and PJ Walker, two rookie quarterbacks, are available for the Browns; nonetheless, Flacco has a somewhat distinguished background.
According to Pro Football Talk, Cleveland considered Friday’s practice to have been a “very impressive” session.
Over the course of his 15 NFL seasons, Flacco has amassed 42,320 passing yards and 232 touchdowns.
Flacco most recently spent three seasons as a player with the Jets, where he made twelve appearances and nine starts.
The 38-year-old, who last started for the Jets in Week 18 against the Miami Dolphins, participated in five games for the team in 2022.
149 yards were passed by him in an 11-6 defeat.
The Baltimore Ravens, who selected Flacco with the 18th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, were his home team for 11 seasons. In 2013, Flacco was awarded the MVP of the Super Bowl and helped lead the team to victory.
During their championship season, he passed for 3,817 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Flacco has made other trips, such as a 2019 season with the Denver Broncos.
In the Browns’ victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11, Thompson-Robinson made his debut.
The rookie completed 24 of his 43 pass attempts for 165 yards and one interception, but he did not throw a touchdown.
