The NBA made available the last two-minute report of the Boston Celtics’ January 9 loss to the Indiana Pacers. Jayson Tatum took to his X account following the news’s release to provide a five-word response to what the report verified.
It appears that Tatum disagreed with a few of the calls that the report verified. The officials’ controversial call to overturn Buddy Hield’s foul call in the final seconds of the game was the main one.
The investigation upheld the correctness of the reversal, but it also said that Kristaps Porzingis’ foul should not have been called toward the end of the game.
With 0.3 seconds remaining, Benedict Matthurin’s three free throws following the foul gave the Pacers a two-point edge. Tatum did not respond to the allegation as cryptically as Porzingis did.
What’s done is done, in the end. It makes no difference if the study validated the Celtics’ calls, which they felt were correct, because they lost. Regrouping and concentrating on their upcoming game is all the Celtics can do.
Off the Celtics’ injury report, is Jayson Tatum?
Due to an ankle injury, Jayson Tatum was unable to play in the Celtics’ January 8 game against the Pacers. Tatum, though, was not listed on the Celtics’ injury report for their January 10 matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Tatum has missed a total of three games this season. He hasn’t actually missed that many games in a season as a whole. With the exception of the two COVID-19 seasons that were cut short in 2019 and 2021, Tatum has participated in more than 70 games in each NBA season.
The Celtics did not drop much ground in the Eastern Conference despite Tatum’s absence in their loss to the Pacers. On that particular day, the No. 2 seed Milwaukee Bucks suffered a loss to the Utah Jazz as well, putting the Celtics two and a half games ahead of the Bucks for the top conference seed.
The actual query will be whether Al Horford and/or Porzingis are fit to play. Because of his age, the Celtics have insisted on resting Horford during back-to-back games. The Celtics’ top priority is to make sure Porzingis is healthy by playoff time because of his propensity for injuries.
Jaylen Brown Requests an Inquiry
Jaylen Brown did not conceal his displeasure with the reversed call during his postgame press conference following the Celtics’ defeat.
“I believe he clearly struck my head. Without a doubt, we must conduct some research. All I will say is that. That seemed like a no-brainer to me. The phrase “head section of the ball” is new to me. According to Brown, that doesn’t make sense to him, as reported by the Celtics on NBC Sports Boston’s X account.
Brown continued by saying that, given how reasonable his response is, his objections shouldn’t result in any penalties.
That made our team lose the match. Do you think we won’t get frustrated? Our goal is to develop positive habits. Our goal is to win as many games as we can. That’s why we just dropped one, so I think we’re entitled to be angry. The league ought to be aware. It goes without saying that we will discuss it after the game. Therefore, while I believe there shouldn’t be any fines, I do believe that one should be looked into.
Although no fines have been imposed thus far, this could alter in the next several days.
