Braves Receive Optimistic Update on Ronald Acuña’s Injury

On Tuesday, the Atlanta Braves received a welcome update on the status of Ronald Acuña Jr.’s knee injury, indicating that the current MVP is expected to be ready for Opening Day. The news comes as a relief for the Braves and their fans, as Acuña suffered the injury on Friday in the same knee that underwent ACL reconstruction in the past. Fortunately, this recent injury is deemed less severe and does not pose a significant risk to his playing availability.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Acuña expressed optimism about his readiness to play, stating, “Today, I think I can play. I will, however, play when they say I can. I feel fantastic.” This positive outlook from the star player bodes well for the Braves as they gear up for the start of the season. The team is set to commence their campaign in Philadelphia on March 28, and having Acuña in the lineup adds a crucial element to their offensive firepower.

In tandem with the positive injury update, the Braves made roster moves on Tuesday, including sending Grant Holmes, Jake Walsh, Phillip Evans, Leury Garcia, and Alejo Lopez to the minor league camp. These decisions are part of the team’s ongoing efforts to refine their roster and make necessary adjustments as they approach the regular season.

In a spring training matchup, the Braves secured a 3-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers, with notable contributions from pitchers Tyler Matzek, Charlie Morton, and Spencer Strider. The game also marked the debut of Skye Bolt, an outfielder recently added to the Braves’ minor league team, showcasing the team’s commitment to developing talent within their organization.

Shifting focus to organizational depth, the Braves are initiating a series of previews, starting with a spotlight on right-handed pitchers. This strategic approach reflects the team’s emphasis on building a strong foundation and depth across various positions to navigate the challenges of a long and demanding season.
