Braves’ Ronald Acuna Jr. gets hit in the wrist during a Winter League game. Fans express concern: How are the Braves allowing him to play?
After star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. took a pitch to the wrist in the Venezuelan Winter League on Friday, Atlanta Braves fans were understandably alarmed.
The 25-year-old just finished an incredible big league season in which he won the NL MVP award and made history by being the first player to record a 40–70 season.
Following the season, Acuna Jr. returned to his native Venezuela to take part in the Winter League, and the Braves fans are understandably concerned about his recent injury scare.
The Atlanta Braves signed Ronald Acuna Jr. as an international free agent in 2014, and he later made his Major League Baseball debut for them in 2018.
He demonstrated his hitting and baserunning prowess and won Rookie of the Year in his debut season in the major leagues.
Since then, he has received four All-Star selections and, following an MLB record 40–70 season, this year’s NL MVP honor.
Throughout the regular season, the Atlanta Braves were unquestionably among the greatest teams in Major League Baseball, and they ended with a 104-58 record, leading their division.
They did, however, lose the Division Series 3-1 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Following that, Ronald Acuna Jr. went back to his birthplace of La Guardia to play in the winter league of Venezuela.
Atlanta fans were alarmed following the event when they saw a recent video of the Braves star getting struck by a pitch on the wrist go viral on social media.
