DONE DEAL: Braves complete another trade with Royals
The Braves released Michal Soroka late last night, sending him, Nicky Lopez, Jared Shuster, Riley Gowens, and Braden Shewmake to the White Sox in exchange for left-handed reliever Aaron Bummer.
It’s difficult to accept the loss of Soroka. When I say I was dying for him to make his triumphant comeback from back-to-back Achilles injuries, I think I speak for all of Braves Country.
He was out of options, however, and the Braves were not going to be able to keep him on the roster. A deal was unavoidable.
The Braves made another trade today, sending Nick Anderson to the Royals in exchange for cash.
After a stellar first half of the season with the Braves, Anderson was set to earn less than $2 million in arbitration.
He was a non-tender candidate after being injured just before the All-Star break and missing the rest of the season, so the Braves chose to trade him to Kansas City.
This move has taken me by surprise. The Braves don’t have the best bullpen and could use as many arms as possible, but this is yet another sign that more moves are on the way.
The Braves of 2024 could look very different from the team of this year.
