To replace departing coach Ron Washington, the Braves announced the addition of Eric Young Sr., Drew French, and Eric Young.
Three new coaches have joined the Atlanta Braves, the team announced on Monday.
The new third base coach for the group will be Matt Tuiasosopo. As the team’s new bullpen coach, Erick Abreu will replace Tom Goodwin as first base coach. Walt Weiss, the bench coach, will take over as the group’s infield instructor.
Tuiasosopo, who managed Gwinnett for the previous three seasons, will help Weiss with infield responsibilities. He took on the role of Ron Washington, who left this offseason to become the Los Angeles manager.
Goodwin was a traveling instructor in the Braves system for the previous two seasons. Prior to that, he was the first base coach for the Boston Red Sox from 2018 to 21 and the New York Mets from 2012 to 17. He took over for Eric Young Sr., who went to work for the Angels and joined Washington’s staff.
Abreu joins the Houston Astros organization, where he spent the previous three seasons as the Triple A pitching coach. He is taking over for the late Drew French, who left to take a position as the Baltimore Orioles’ pitching coach.
