Alan Shearer acknowledged Moussa Diaby’s impact on Unai Emery’s Aston Villa team since his arrival in the summer.

In his first seven games, he has already contributed to five goals, and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

Shearer commented on Aston Villa’s stunning 6-1 triumph, saying: “I do think that [Moussa] Diaby has been a game changer for them because of his pace and because of how they can sit back and suck up a little bit of pressure.

But once they recover possession of the ball thanks to his speed and ability to close gaps, I believe he has changed the game for them.

And he’s definitely making Ollie Watkins a better player, as shown by the fact that he scored a hat-trick in front of the England manager while the team pounded Brighton’s two young midfielders, [Billy] Gilmour and [Jack] Hinshelwood.

Aston Villa will be aware of their excellent chance to end this campaign with a European championship.
