With the squad thriving on the field under Ange Postecoglou, supporters expect the games to come thick and quick given Tottenham’s tremendously good start to the 2023–24 Premier League season. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case this season, since Spurs aren’t competing in Europe and are no longer eligible for the Carabao Cup after losing to Fulham in the second round. The Lilywhites have won five and drawn two of their first seven games in the Premier League, and they are presently second in the standings, one point behind league leaders Man City. Three points at Kenilworth Road will bring the north London club to the top of the league for at least 24 hours before the defending champions take on Arsenal in a tantalizing match at the Emirates Stadium. They are in action first this weekend when they take on Luton Town in Saturday’s early kick-off. It will certainly be a long 16 days for fans as they wait for Tottenham’s next game against Fulham. The showdown against the Cottagers is the first of four Spurs games on the calendar before international football resumes once again midway through November. Tottenham’s match on Saturday in Bedfordshire will be their last before the second international break of the season suspends domestic play. It’s the last thing Spurs supporters want right now, especially with everyone counting down the seconds until the next match with Postecoglou’s squad raking in the victories and doing so well right now.

Prior to that, Postecoglou and his dynamic Tottenham squad have the chance to make a true statement of intent to teams like Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool as they attempt to maintain their strong position atop the Premier League ahead of the busy holiday season. A few people have suggested Spurs in relation to the championship battle over the past couple of weeks following a very promising start under Postecoglou. However, it always seemed like the title competition will be between Man City and Arsenal once again with Liverpool returning into the mix after a dismal 2022–23 season. The Lilywhites’ chances of winning the championship are getting shorter with every game that goes by, and they will keep doing so if they maintain winning in late October and early November. Selhurst Park matches are notoriously close, and Roy Hodgson’s team has been handed a blow this week with the discovery that top player Eberechi Eze would miss six weeks of action due to a hamstring injury sustained against Old Trafford. Then, on November 6, Tottenham will play host to Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under the lights, continuing their run of games against other London teams .That evening, as Mauricio Pochettino returns to N17 nearly four years after being fired by Spurs, all eyes will be on the game. His new Chelsea club has had a fairly difficult start to the season, but Monday’s 2-0 win against Fulham could just be the thing to get them going again.

The away game against Wolves will be Tottenham’s final matchup before the domestic football season ends in November. Even though each of the five games will be extremely difficult, Postecoglou’s team can win them all if they keep playing the way they are right now.

In contrast, Man City will have a really difficult stretch in the Premier League because they also have two more Champions League games to play during that time. The champions return to league play in the middle of October with a match against Brighton & Hove Albion before facing city rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Beginning of November should see Pep Guardiola’s club play at home against Bournemouth, with an away game against Chelsea following eight days later. In particular, Sunday’s matchup with City will be exceedingly difficult for Arsenal.

The Gunners will have stiff competition from Newcastle United and Chelsea on the road, while Sheffield United and Burnley at home represent true test matches. On the other side, Liverpool may not have a particularly difficult schedule of games like Man City and Arsenal have, and they will be expected to score a lot of points.

The Reds’ trip to Brighton on Sunday will be a very tough test, but following the international break, when they play Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Brentford at home and Luton away, they should comfortably come out with all three points. Tottenham might very well find themselves in a very good position when you look at the matchups before November’s international fixtures because they are currently in second place and one point behind the league leaders after seven games of the Premier League season

.One thing is certain: Postecoglou won’t allow his players get carried away by their encouraging start, and he’ll keep them concentrated on only one game at a time without letting them get sidetracked by other outcomes. If the Lilywhites continue to perform well and rack up the points, there are now a few whispers about an implausible title charge, but those cries may grow much louder in the coming weeks.

Over the course of their next five Premier League games, Postecoglou and Tottenham have a real chance to issue a serious message to their competitors.
