Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has fired a one-word message 

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has provided fans with a promising injury update. Ahead of the Gunners Premier League opener, Mikel Arteta was pressed on the timeline of a return for the Brazilian striker – with his response offering some hope.

“It’s a bit early still,” Arteta said. “Less than two weeks since the operation.

“Hopefully he can start to do some stuff next week. He’s doing really well to be fair, but it’s something we’re going to be cautious and make sure he comes back in the right way.”

Following the Emirates Cup victory over Monaco, Arteta confirmed that Jesus had undergone a minor operation that was set to keep him out for a number of weeks. Eddie Nketiah proved he can continue to perform in Jesus’ absence after scoring the opener against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon – before Bukayo Saka added a second goal before half-time.

Following the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Forest, Jesus was spotted walking without a limp through the mixed zone with big progress made in his recovery since the Community Shield. Arteta’s initial timeline for a potential return would place could see Jesus back in the squad to face Fulham at Emirates Stadium on August 26. In a post on Instagram, Jesus has provided a huge update regarding his recovery from injury. The Brazilian posted a video of himself in the gym, showing off his surgery dressing with the message: “Done *tick emoji* *muscle emoji*.”

Jesus has been a big miss for Arsenal but they have been fine in his absence, with Arteta’s side winning the Community Shield and the game against Forest with Nketiah and Saka both stepping up to help their side start the season in fine shape.
