£13M: ROMANO SUGGESTS ARSENAL PLAYER COULD NOW BE SOLD

Arsenal could now sell out-of-favour defender Nuno Tavares – but to Nottingham Forest rather than West Ham United.

Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign another Arsenal player with Nuno Tavares potentially following Matt Turner to the City Ground.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who reports that Forest have now submitted a proposal to sign Tavares.

It’s stated that talks are still ongoing between Forest and Tavares’ representatives in the hope of striking a deal.

It will then be over to Arsenal and Forest to thrash out a deal with Steve Cooper’s men chasing a permanent move.

Tavares clearly has no future at Arsenal, with no role in Mikel Arteta’s plans after returning from a loan spell at Marseille.

Tavares had a mixed time in France, scoring six times in 31 league games but also receiving criticism for his attitude.

The Portuguese left back is now back with Arsenal but has been made available for transfer this summer with a number of clubs keen.

Sky Sports reported just last week that Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen both want to sign Tavares with Arsenal demanding around £13million.

That’s £5million more than the fee Arsenal paid to sign Tavares from Benfica in 2021, with the Gunners happy to let him go.

West Ham United seemingly won’t be signing Nuno Tavares

Another club interested Tavares is West Ham United.

iNews claimed late in June that West Ham were showing a strong interest in taking Tavares to East London.

David Moyes appears to be in the market for another left back this summer amid question marks over Aaron Cresswell’s future.

A move for Tavares hasn’t materialised though with West Ham strongly linked to sign Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen instead.

West Ham seemingly moving on means there is a window of opportunity for Forest to pounce with a deal for Tavares.

Forest saw Renan Lodi’s loan deal end this summer and he has ironically gone on to replace Tavares at Marseille.

Add in Harry Toffolo being charged over betting breaches and Forest clearly need to add another left back this summer.

Tavares may well be keen, with Forest handing him a pathway to regular first-team football in the Premier League.
