Millwall are set to complete the signing of Kieffer Moore from Bournemouth ahead of several Championship strikers who had been linked with the big striker.
Who is Kieffer Moore?
Most Millwall fans are sure to know about the 6’5” target man, who has spent most of his career in the Football League, and he has also won 34 caps for Wales.
The 31-year-old has turned out for the likes of Barnsley, Wigan and Cardiff over the years, with his form for the Bluebirds earning Moore a move to Bournemouth, who he helped win promotion to the Premier League.
Game time has been hard to come by for the player in the top-flight, and with new boss Andoni Iraola looking to bring in his own players this summer, a departure had always been on the cards.
Kieffer Moore’s race will be won by Millwall.
Any deal was predicated on the Cherries bringing in a replacement, which they appear to have done, with Patson Daka on loan from Leicester.
Moore has been freed, and despite ties to Cardiff and Norwich, TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has confirmed that Millwall will be victorious in their pursuit of the attacker.
Kieffer Moore is expected to join Millwall in order to make place for Daka. Norwich were early favorites for Moore, but that now appears improbable.
Is this a good signing for Millwall?
Gary Rowett’s side has had a mixed start to the season, winning two and losing two of their first four games. However, the main issue has been a lack of goals, with the Londoners only scoring three times throughout that time.
As a result, it’s evident that they need more firepower in the squad, and Moore will provide another threat.
Even if he isn’t the most prolific, the towering attacker will benefit others since his sheer stature and aerial skill can draw defenders and create havoc in the area.
We know Rowett has a direct approach, so Moore should fit right in, and players like Zian Flemming and Kevin Nisbet will benefit from playing off the big guy throughout the season.
Following on from that, it’s a move that makes sense from Moore’s standpoint, as he’ll receive the game time he craves, and, as previously stated, Millwall appears to be a very good fit for him, as they should get the most out of him.
What comes next for Millwall?
On Deadline Day, the Lions added Allan Campbell and Ryan Longman, so Rowett will be pleased with how the window finished.
The fans had been displeased with the manager earlier in the season, and the results had shown that fresh players were needed if Millwall were to re-enter the play-offs.
So, Rowett will be relieved that he has been supported, and now it’s all about results, with the team resuming to action on Saturday against Birmingham City.
