After Milan’s 5-1 loss to Inter last night, in which he again lost the tactical battle to Simone Inzaghi, Stefano Pioli has come under fire. The manager, though, thinks it wasn’t as awful.
The Rossoneri lost the derby for the sixth time in a row, and despite dominating possession, Inter had the better of the match for the most of the contest. On the counter, Inzaghi’s troops injured them once more.
Pioli discussed the loss with MilanTV after the game (see video below), and he also discussed the next match against Newcastle on Tuesday.
“I suffered a big defeat. The team was prepared well up until the 3-1 goal, even if occasionally, especially when we gave up, we needed to be more stable and alert. After 3-1, it got harder. We cannot afford to quit playing that way since we will get knowledge from these experiences.
“I handled the minutes for some of the boys, and I’ll examine the exhaustion situation tomorrow morning. It would be crucial to start the Champions League strong. We’ll try to get ready as well as we can.
