Rafael Leao, who scored the game’s lone goal against Hellas Verona yesterday afternoon, was Milan’s hero. Olivier Giroud, who has had a strong start to the season like the Portuguese winger, naturally aided him.
The distance between the offensive two and their reserves has not yet been closed, as emphasized in today’s issue of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below). In fact, Giroud and Leao have scored seven of the Rossoneri’s ten goals thus far.
They won’t be able to play every game, especially Giroud, and Pioli will have to rely more on Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic in the coming games. They have yet to score, and with 934 minutes between Giroud and Leao, they have just 115 on the pitch.
As a result, the gap between the starting and the reserves must be bridged. Pioli’s capacity to rotate at this frantic time is dependent on it.
