Milan sign American midfielder Musah from Valencia

4 August (Reuters) – AC Milan announced on Friday that they had signed American midfielder Yunus Musah from LaLiga side Valencia on a five-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Italian media reported that Milan paid a package fee of 20 million euros ($22.07 million) for the 20-year-old who will wear jersey number 80.

A product of the Arsenal youth system Musah joined Valencia’s reserve team in 2019 and made his senior debut the following year. With the Spanish team, he appeared in 108 matches across all competitions.

The United States international has been capped 24 times and helped his country win a second successive CONCACAF Nations League title in June.

Musah becomes the eighth signing for Milan, who have spent around 100 million euros in this transfer window.

On the official website, Milan state that they are pleased to announce the signing of Musah on a permanent basis, with the 20-year-old having signed a contract with the club until 30 June 2028.

Born in New York on 29 November 2002, Musah came through the Arsenal academy before transferring to Valencia in 2019. For the Spaniards, he played one season with the B team before being promoted to the senior side.

He becomes the eighth signing of the summer after Luka Romero, Marco Sportiello, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Tijjani Reijnders, Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze.
