Future striker wanted by Milan, and top on Furlani’s list is a productive Ligue 1 player.

A prolific Ligue 1 striker is at the top of Furlani’s list as Milan searches for its next striker.

As some had anticipated, AC Milan did not spend significantly on a center-forward this summer; nevertheless, that may happen in 2019.

Given that Divock Origi struggled in his first season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired, and Olivier Giroud would shortly turn 37, there was a notion going into the summer transfer window that Milan would recruit a new striker who could be the starting for years to come.

Giroud now ranks second in Serie A in terms of goals scored after scoring four goals in the first three games of the season (despite taking three penalties). However, Giroud may soon need to assume a deputy position in order to better manage his workload.

According to Calciomercato.com, Giorgio Furlani has named Jonathan David of Lille as the player he would most want to see lead the line in the future as the management looks to the future and potential leaders.

It follows a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport published yesterday that claims Milan also analyzed David in June and July when his price was €60 million and that a loan offer was turned down at the last minute of the transfer window. However, Milan will reportedly attempt again in the coming months.

I genuinely hope it will come to pass. However, I believe that a lot will rely on how this season plays out. It is feasible if new players can be successfully assimilated, solving the depth problem, and if Milan perform well in the UCL (at least making it to the quarterfinals) to earn additional money. Otherwise, I’m not convinced Milan would be willing to pay more than 50 million euros on only one player. But again, I wish it will come true. Maybe the management can do their magic like before to get big discount.
