It is a difficult moments: Tomori hears Milan’s star cry out and begs for assistance.

Despite enjoying his first start in over a year, Yacine Adli has acknowledged that there were some trying times for him personally while he wasn’t playing much.

Adli’s first season at Milan following his loan stint back at Bordeaux wasn’t the best since, despite his perseverance and efforts to gain a position, he only managed to make one league start the whole season.

The Franco-Algerian started tonight for the first time since a road game against Hellas Verona 346 days ago, and he performed admirably, getting a rating among the top players on the field.

Adli may have more opportunities to shine at the base of the midfield now that Rade Krunic is injured.

He spoke his first start of the season with Sky after the game, and MilanPress relayed his remarks.

How would you rate your season-opening performance?

It required labor and patience, both of which I possessed, but I also waited and daydreamed about it. I’ve always sacrificed everything for this moment, but because it’s only one game, I want more to prove my presence.

What is your ideal job?

I’ve played in every position during my career, so the change of position is ideal for me. I informed the coach that I would also play full-back for this shirt, so he could place me wherever he wants.

Was it difficult when you weren’t playing much?

There were challenging times because, like every athlete I aspired to be, I looked for joy in other places. I’ve always made an effort to assist, and I get along well with the staff and other players.

I was informed by the coach on the first day that I wouldn’t play much. When Tomori questioned me about what I would do, I responded, I will stay here and you can watch how I play.
