Olivier Giroud’s game-winning effort against Genoa in Serie A has led AC Milan to list him as a goalkeeper for the 2023–24 campaign.
At the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday night, France’s all-time leading scorer was brought in as a last-minute goalie after Mike Maignan was dismissed for a tackle on Caleb Ekuban.
Prior to Maignan’s departure, the opponents had already made five replacements, thus Milan was left playing with just 10 players.
Giroud, though, surprised many by seeming comfortable in the goalmouth. In fact, when he made a save in the 104th minute, the former Chelsea and Arsenal striker displayed amazing reflexes.
Giroud, who has four goals in all competitions this season, continued to maintain a clean sheet as Christian Pulisic’s late winner gave the Rossoneri the victory.
