Daryl Dike returns to West Bromwich Albion training

For the first time since April, Daryl Dike is back training with his West Bromwich Albion teammates.

Dike returned to training on Tuesday as he continues his recovery from a torn Achilles injury that he suffered last April. There is no timetable for Dike’s return to competitive action, but Baggies manager Carlos Corberan previously admitted he would be surprised to see Dike back before January.

Earlier this autumn, Corberan stated, “He is very committed with his recovery, but it is a very long-term injury, so he is one player that I cannot expect to play until January.”

Prior to sustaining an Achilles injury that kept him out of action for the rest of the previous season and the first three months of the 2023–24 campaign, Dike had scored six goals.

After joining the English club from Orlando City in December 2021, Dike has been reduced to only 27 combined appearances for the Baggies across all competitions. In addition, Dike has missed out on several U.S. men’s national team opportunities, including the Concacaf Nations League and Gold Cup.

Corberan would certainly love to have Dike back available for the final two months of the 2023 schedule, but having him for the second half of the season could prove even more important for the promotion race.

West Brom is currently ranked fifth in the English Football League Championship after continuing to roll in recent weeks, winning three straight games.

The Baggies will travel to Southampton on Saturday before entering the November international break.
