Former Toffees manager Carlo Ancelotti has been criticized for his latest comments following the draw with Rayo Vallecano and showing an Everton-like mentality.
The Italian manager received a positive response from Bernabeu Digital today, particularly from journalist Javier Rubiano, who is eager to remind Ancelotti that “Real Madrid is not Everton.”
The weekend saw the Spanish powerhouses draw 0-0 at home against Rayo Vallecano, a result that inevitably infuriated the Real Madrid supporters.
Their annoyance was compounded after the game when Ancelotti made a number of “unacceptable” remarks that didn’t sit well with the merengue supporters, including “I prefer to beat Barcelona than Rayo Vallecano” and “the team has shown its face and for me it is enough.”
According to him, Ancelotti had a “conformist” demeanor toward the media that did not align with Real Madrid’s values and image. In fact, several supporters interpreted this as an indication that Ancelotti’s tenure at the team was coming to an end.
According to Rubiano, “an earthquake is unleashed” if Real Madrid loses, especially against a team like Rayo Vallecano.
Ancelotti has experienced this in the last few hours. Attempting to brush that under the rug with a conformist message just serves to exacerbate the situation.
He wants to point out and remind Ancelotti, despite it being an ‘incredible’ thing to do, that ‘Real Madrid is not Everton’ and the Italian would do well to remember that.
The 61-year-old Italian, who managed Real Madrid for two years between 2013 and 2015, left Everton after 18 months in charge at Goodison Park.
He succeeded Zinedine Zidane at Real and the move left Everton searching for a sixth permanent manager in five years.
Ancelotti signed a three-year deal at Real and said the move represented “an unexpected opportunity”.
He added: “I have complete respect for everyone associated with Everton and hope they can achieve the exciting opportunities they have in front of them.
