According to sources who talked with Football Insider, Rangers already privately value custodian Jack Butland at more than £5 million, even in spite of Birmingham City’s interest.
The Ibrox club will not consider any proposals for the 30-year-old custodian in January, according to information released by Football Insider on Friday, October 20.
When Butland joined Rangers on a free transfer during the summer transfer window, he immediately distinguished himself as a player.
If his present form continues, the Gers should be willing to pay a premium—more than £5 million—for him.
If that amount were given to a club that had previously sold its best players, they would make a lot of money.
The long-term agreement between Butland and Ibrox ends in May 2027.
Most importantly, it’s thought that EFL teams won’t be able to pay Rangers what they’re asking for the former England international.
The former standout player for Stoke and Crystal Palace is happy to be a long-term member of the team and is enjoying his time in Glasgow.
Rangers had been pursuing Butland for almost a year, and they had considered making a bid for him in the summer of 2022 before Allan McGregor made the decision to play on.
He has played every minute of every game for the Ibrox team since arriving, including the group stage of the Europa League.
Butland played in England’s top two divisions for Leeds, Barnsley, Derby, Stoke, Birmingham, and Crystal Palace, totaling 248 appearances.
Having played for England nine times, the thirty-year-old last participated in the Three Lions in 2018.
