According to reports, the £16 million midfielder is delaying a new contract owing to interest from Leeds and two Premier League teams.

Coventry City, according to Dutch site Voetbal Rotterdam, have offered Gustavo Hamer a new contract, but the Brazilian-born Netherlands U20 international is delaying signing owing to interest from Leeds, Fulham, and Burnley.

Hamer, 26, had a fantastic 2022-23 season, the strongest of his three after arriving to Coventry in 2020. He was instrumental in Coventry City’s push for promotion from the play-offs. He assisted on 21 goals.

The playmaker scored 11 goals and contributed 10 assists, scoring in both semi-finals to eliminate Middlesbrough and scoring in the final to send the game to penalties against Luton. Coventry City remain in the Championship. Viktor Gyokeres has departed.

Now that he has joined Sporting, all eyes are on Hamer. Coventry must either sell this summer and earn a fee, or risk losing him for free next season. They have offered him a new contract, although Leeds, Fulham, and Burnley are interested.

According to the latest reports, Hamer is delaying signing a new deal with Mark Robins’ side due to interest from clubs such as Leeds. The Whites are far from first in the battle to sign the Coventry ace.

According to TeamTalk, interested teams will have to pay a sum of £16 million to sign Hamer. After Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow, he would be an amazing signing. However, considering the high level of desire, the prospects of acquiring him are quite limited.

Fulham and Burnley are the most likely destinations for the attacking midfielder. However, with the departure of Brenden Aaronson, Leeds would guarantee him game time at Elland Road. He’d struggle to get going at Fulham. Burnley, perhaps.

Leeds can afford to spend £16 million on a new player thanks to the 49ers’ acquisition, but it must adhere to Financial Fairplay guidelines. Leeds may have to sell an Illan Meslier, Willy Gnonto, or Jack Harrison first.
