Wales – RHOSLLANNERCHRUGOG – 25 SEPTEMBER 2022 During the Genero Adran North Group 1 match between Wrexham AFC Women and Llanfair United Ladies FC at Ponciau Park, Rhosllannerchrugog, Rosie Hughes rejoices.
You could tell it was just another typical Sunday afternoon for Rosie Hughes as she walked off the field with a wide smile on her face, laughing loudly and joking with her teammates.
On Sunday against Barry Town, the striker scored five goals, helping Wrexham cruise to a 5-1 victory.
Hughes scored with her head, left foot, and right foot, making the accomplishment all the more remarkable given that she had some hesitations before to the game.
“On the field, the result itself demonstrates how effective we were today. I told one of my teammates that I didn’t believe I was going to do well today since I had some leg pain when I arrived here.
I then scored a hat-trick in the opening 20 minutes! I don’t frequently do headers, so to score two of them was fantastic. Two of them came off my head as well.
She has already scored five goals this season, bringing her total to seven, four more than any other player in the Adran Premier.
Many questioned if Hughes could maintain her impressive record in the top division after she scored 42 goals in all competitions previous season.
But the message from the number nine is simple, I’ll score every opportunity you give to me.
