Despite the criticism Darwin Nunez received last season, former Celtic and Norwich striker Chris Sutton believes Darwin Nunez can become a Liverpool legend.
Since the Uruguayan has been at Anfield for more than a year, it is fair to assume that he hasn’t had it easy. Nunez was constantly criticized for passing up simple opportunities, despite the fact that he scored 15 goals in all competitions last season.
Prior to that season, Erling Haaland, who set numerous records, was frequently compared to Nunez, who was outscored by the Norwegian machine. Nunez’s transition to Liverpool after his €80 million move from Benfica was likely made more difficult by the difficult season Liverpool had.

Sutton discussed the 24-year-old in a podcast interview for It’s All Coming Up. Nunez scored in that Community Shield match from the previous campaign, whereas Haaland did not, and then there was this head-to-head, according to Sutton.
“I believe Nunez received some criticism as a result of that analogy throughout the season. He poses a serious threat and is obviously his own man.
Of course, it matters if you miss opportunities, especially significant ones, but he is one of those guys who appears to pick himself up and move on. You must possess a powerful mentality.
Nunez might be a touch hesitant, but the fact that we still talk about him missing opportunities indicates that he is still getting into the ideal places. He scored 15 goals last season across all competitions, and I believe he will easily reach 20 this year.
