After it was revealed that Nicolas Raskin would miss Thursday night’s Europa League match at Ibrox against Real Betis, Michael Beale thinks Jose Cifuentes needs to stand up.

The Gers midfielder injured his calf during the 2-0 rout of St. Johnstone in the Premiership on Saturday at McDiarmid Park.

Raskin now sits on the sidelines alongside fellow midfielder Todd Cantwell and Brazilian striker Danilo, the latter of whom underwent surgery for a fractured cheekbone he incurred while scoring Perth’s opening goal.

After joining the Gers from Los Angeles FC in the summer, Ecuadorian international Cifuentes has had a lackluster start to his career. In the coming weeks, he will compete with Ryan Jack for a midfield position.

Nico is out with a calf injury until after the international break, according to Gers manager Beale.

He received a kick throughout the game, and it caused him to have a difficulty. He, Todd, and Danilo are therefore missing.

“Danielo still appears sore, if I’m being completely honest. Not just one location but several underwent effective surgery on the patient.

He will resume non-contact training at the conclusion of the international break, so ideally he will return the first week following the international break in October, though it may take a few weeks after that.

The fact that Cifuentes didn’t return from South America, where he played at altitude, until Friday morning means that he is now available to play, and Ryan Jack is also here, so our alternatives are unaffected.

Jose arrived relatively late but performed admirably in his first few games. After that, he was deployed abroad.

He has been present for some time, and now is his chance.

“Recently, I indicated that the new players had played for enough time. Despite being the last to enter, I believe he is prepared.
