Former Leicester City midfielder Nobby Solano has predicted that the club will win promotion back to the Premier League this season, due to the squad at their disposal.

City have won five of their six Championship games so far this season under new manager Enzo Maresca. On Friday night, they beat promotion rivals Southampton 4-1 to avenge their first defeat of the season.

City return to play on Wednesday night, hosting Norwich City at Carrow Road. The Canaries have also made a strong start to the season, currently sitting fourth in the table.

Solano, who spent a year with City between 2010 and 2011, believes the squad’s talent will propel them to the top flight. He told Betway, I believe Leicester have the squad experience to win promotion back to the Premier League. They retained the majority of their previous season .

Harvey Barnes, who joined Newcastle United for about £39 million, was one of the players they did sell this summer. The winger came on as a substitute in Newcastle’s Champions League opener against AC Milan on Tuesday night, but Solano admits he was surprised by Newcastle’s decision to recruit the former City player.Harvey Barnes: Newcastle United sign winger from Leicester in deal believed to be around £39m | Transfer Centre News | Sky Sports

I was quite surprised that Newcastle signed him, he said. But it’s good to have a deeper squad, given the additional competition they are going to be playing in.

I’m not saying that Barnes isn’t going to help them be competitive at the top of the table, but I was just surprised to see his name.
