Newcastle United defeated Brentford by a score of 1-0 at St. James’ Park to halt their losing skid. Callum Wilson scored the game-winning goal from the penalty spot.
On the 64th minute, the England attacker scored easily from the penalty spot to celebrate his first league start of the year.
Aaron Hickey and Yoane Wissa both had chances to score for Brentford in the early minutes. As the first half wore on, Newcastle gradually became better and came close to scoring when Mark Flekken made a good save from Bruno Guimaraes after the Brazilian connected with Sven Botman’s flick-on from a corner.
