Update: After striking a record-breaking, Man Utd close in on ANOTHER world-record deal

The Manchester club is currently working on another eye-catching move after reaching a record-breaking £60 million per year partnership with US-based technology company Qualcomm that will see its Snapdragon brand replace TeamViewer on Red Devils shirts starting in the upcoming season.

This one is a player signing rather than a sponsorship agreement. The Daily Mail reports that Phallon Tullis-Joyce, a player for OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League, is on the verge of joining Manchester United Women.

According to rumors, United is willing to spend upwards of £100,000 on the American goalie, which would be a women’s transfer record. The Women’s Super League transfer window closes on Thursday (September 14), but United are optimistic that they can close a deal before then.

Indeed, Tullis-Joyce is already on her way to England to complete the move and this news has thrown up questions regarding the future of England star Mary Earps.

Earps to stay regardless

However, according to the aforementioned rumor, this transaction will have no impact on United’s position that the World Cup hero is not for sale. The 30-year-old apparently wants to leave the club, but the Red Devils are refusing to authorize a transfer, despite Arsenal offering to smash the women’s goalkeeper transfer record to sign her.

Next summer, Earps’ contract expires, putting United in a scenario similar to that of Alessia Russo. Russo joined the Gunners for free in the summer after Man Utd rejected Arsenal’s offer to pay a world-record price for the attacker in January.

Even though Brazil international Geyse, World Cup golden boot winner Hinata Miyazawa, and several high-potential youngsters were all signed by Manchester United, it’s easy to understand why Earps wants to leave the club given that the Red Devils have lost a number of star players since last season’s unexpected runners-up finish.

On October 1, United plays Aston Villa on the road to begin the new WSL season.
