David Toms
Tom Davies, who had declined the club’s offer of a new contract after being there since he was 11, did the same. He joined Sheffield United, a newcomer to the Premier League, after weeks of speculation, although he was unable to play in the club’s game against Everton prior to the break. Recently, Davies claimed that his decision was partially motivated by his desire for stability, adding that it was a step he was delighted to make since he wanted to put his work and personal needs first. I believe doing that made it possible for me to get here. The decision to leave your first club and boyhood club is never easy, but I am glad I made it.
Isaac Price
During the World Cup break, Isaac Price spent time with the first squad and performed admirably when traveling with Everton to Australia. Price transferred to Standard Liege in Belgium after declining efforts to keep him at the club owing to his desire to play for the first team. During this international break, he scored his first senior goal for Northern Ireland while starting five of the first six Pro League games.
Ruben Vinagre
Ruben Vinagre, who was acquired on loan from Sporting, gave both Frank Lampard and Sean Dyche a left defensive option. Vinagre only played as a substitute twice in the Premier League before suffering an injury towards the conclusion of the season during a fitness crisis, so neither team really employed him. He is 24 years old. Prior to being forced to withdraw due to a minor thigh injury, he started two of the first three league games. He later made a comeback in Leicester City’s victory. He recently spoke candidly about his time with the Blues, saying: “Last season was a challenging season for me. Not as many games as I had hoped to play. There, the coaches made the decision rather than me. I honor that. To show them that I must play, I put in daily effort in training, and I’ll put in the same effort here. I’ll show the coach at every training session that I need to play. I’ll battle for my position.
Coady, Conor
Conor Coady signed to Leicester after Everton declined to exercise the option to acquire him on a long-term basis from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Coady missed the start of the season because of a foot fracture, but he has since returned to training.
Simms, Ellis
As part of what eventually developed into a transfer triangle involving his new team, the Blues, and Sporting, Ellis Simms relocated to Coventry City. Although the deals weren’t completed in that order, Sporting acquired former Everton target Viktor Gyokeres from the Sky Blues, Everton acquired young forward Youssef Chermiti from the Portuguese club, and Simms moved from Merseyside to the Midlands. Simms has not scored for Coventry in the Championship, despite the fact that they have six points after their first five games.
.Yorry Mina
The club’s survival depended heavily on Yerry Mina’s late entry into Sean Dyche’s starting lineup. In the crucial match against Bournemouth in the last game of the previous season, James Tarkowski started at center back alongside Mina and Coady, who are both no longer with the team. The Colombian international was moved to Serie A team Fiorentina since it seemed unlikely that Everton would offer him a new contract due to his high pay and long history of injury misfortune. In the last four matches in the league and Europa Conference League, Mina has not been deployed as a replacement.
Ishe Samuels-Smith
When he was selected for the Carabao Cup team that played Bournemouth in November, teenage defender Ishe Samuels-Smith nearly broke the record for the youngest player to play for Everton at the senior level. He was later included in a Sean Dyche Premier League squad, but despite his first-team experience, the Blues were unable to maintain him, and in the summer he was transferred to Chelsea. Samuels-Smith participated in Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Portugal for the England Under-18s.
Michael Holgate
After being loaned to a Championship team, Mason Holgate made an immediate impact for his new team, Southampton. His debut, however, was difficult for him, as Sunderland defeated him 5-0. That game saw Holgate removed after 64 minutes, and Saints manager Russell Martin later admitted: “It’s my fault for playing Mason so early; he’s only been here a week.” To be honest, I believed he would manage the situation far better than some of the other possibilities we had there. He will be completely fine. Mason has a fantastic attitude, and it is our job as the coaching staff to make sure he gets better, myself included.
Toby Townsend
Because to the anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained at Crystal Palace in the spring of 2022, Andros Townsend did not play for Everton at the senior level in the previous campaign. Late in the season, he had recovered enough to play for the Under-21s, but when his contract expired in the summer, he left. Townsend participated in a Burnley trial but is currently unemployed.
