Carlos Corberan explains Caleb Taylor and Tom Fellows transfer decision at West Brom

Caleb Taylor and Tom Fellows were denied permission to leave West Brom during the transfer window, according to Carlos Corberan, since doing so would have left his team too short.

Centre-back Forward and Taylor Last season, Fellows spent time with both Crawley Town and Cheltenham Town.

Both players could have anticipated receiving another loan to advance their football education this term, yet both appeared in preseason games and have been selected for matchday teams.

Baggies manager Corberan stated that he will now closely monitor the progress of both players.

According to remarks from Corberan obtained by the Express & Star, “making a squad with less than 20 players would’ve been a mistake.”

“Let’s say we have 18 senior players, and we have Caleb and Fellows, who make up the final two players you need to have at least 20 players.

“I wanted to keep them because they were on loan last year, and I want to keep them close to our ideas, to evaluate them, and to help them progress.”

Great opportunity

Which is more beneficial for two of West Brom’s most precocious talents?

To go and get more football elsewhere, playing regularly in the football league? Or staying put at The Hawthorns and learning every day how the manager wants his teams to play?

It’s a complex situation, and the reality probably falls somewhere between Columns A and B, but since both cannot occur at the same time, both players should view this as a thrilling chance.

Rayhaan Tulloch, Ethan Ingram, and Jovan Malcolm were all let to leave by Corberan for brief assignments elsewhere, while Taylor and Fellows were left behind to receive additional coaching from the Baggies manager.

Both players have a wonderful opportunity to impress and push their way into consideration at The Hawthorns since Corberan has never been afraid to give youth a chance either. Let’s monitor how things develop.
