Spurs player confesses that the team expected 30-year-old striker to ‘stay’ this summer.

While Kane has been linked with a move to Bayern since the beginning of the summer, it appeared at one time that the transaction might not go through since the German club was still far short of Tottenham’s valuation of the striker (Guardian).

Nevertheless, Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur did reach an agreement for the England captain immediately before the start of the new season, with some sources (like Football.London’s Alasdair Gold) stating that the sum may grow to as much as £120 million if certain add-ons are reached.

Despite much concern about where the goals would come from after the 30-year-old’s departure, Tottenham have had no trouble finding the back of the net thus far, scoring 11 goals in their first four league games.

Kulusevski expected Kane to stay at Spurs.

Kulusevski admitted that the club’s attacking players would have to up their game and contribute goals during the season.

When asked about Kane’s departure, the Swede told Fotbollskanalen: “That’s life. Life goes on. Everyone changes jobs sometimes, you change teams. He was a champion. We all learned a lot from him. “We thought he would stay, but then on the last day he went to another team, and we wish him all the best in Bayern. He’s off to a strong start and will surely do well there. We lose 30 goals a season, but we all have to score more goals, and we’ve started well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There was a section of Spurs fans on social media who were suggesting that we would have been in a relegation battle without Kane’s goals last season, which is an utterly ridiculous way to look at football. Without Kane, others such as Son and Kulusevski would have undoubtedly chipped in with more goals.

In fact, it can be argued that some of Tottenham’s attacking players were playing a little within themselves and looking for Kane to bail them out on every occasion, which contributed to their struggles last season. With the striker now having gone, they are now evidently taking up more responsibility to make a difference in the final third.
