ROMANO CLAIMS KLOPP HAS MADE 24-YEAR-OLD ‘UNTOUCHABLE’ AT LIVERPOOL

Darwin Nunez was allegedly never intended to leave Liverpool during the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Rumors that Liverpool might have traded Darwin Nunez for Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid have been downplayed.

Fabrizio Romano, who has been talking to Caught Offside regarding Nunez, asserts that.

Liverpool reportedly intended to acquire Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to a Mundo Deportivo report from earlier this week.

As part of the agreement, it was rumored that Liverpool would have been willing to send Nunez to Atletico.

That sounded strange, and indeed Romano has since denied those rumors.

According to Romano, Nunez was viewed as “untouchable” by Jurgen Klopp and the Reds board, therefore Liverpool never wanted to lose him.

Despite rumors that a trade for Joao Felix was under consideration, Liverpool never wanted Darwin Nunez to depart this summer, according to Romano.

“On the club side, it was pretty evident that the manager and the board had decided to keep Darwin. Darwin was thrilled that Liverpool saw him as untouchable, the source continued.

Last month, Football Transfers reported that Liverpool was interested in acquiring Felix from Atletico Madrid if Mohamed Salah left.

We downplayed that one, and we’d feel the same way about any Nunez trade.

It’s simply so difficult to believe that Liverpool decided to bring Felix to Anfield after learning about his loan stint at Chelsea.

The Portuguese attacker was expected to become a superstar, but regrettably his potential is not being realized.

As Liverpool prepares to travel to Barcelona, it was impossible to see how they could add Felix to their attack without Nunez, whose running in from behind gives the Reds a unique advantage.

Felix, who is now a member of Barcelona, didn’t exactly stand out at Chelsea, and giving up on  Nunez for him would have been truly bizarre.

Expectations were high when Nunez moved from Benfica to Liverpool in a high-profile move less than a year ago.

Although the Uruguayan had been brilliant for Benfica, his first season at Liverpool saw him struggle to score frequently.

Nunez started this season on the bench and only managed nine league goals in the previous campaign.

However, the 24-year-old has made a true name for himself this season, scoring a brilliant brace to help Liverpool defeat Newcastle 2-1 despite having 10 men on the field.

Nunez seemed ready to explode this season if he gets a steady run of games after being impressive against Aston Villa on Sunday. Despite the fact that he didn’t score, Nunez was brilliant.
