humiliation for the Leeds reject, who has already been dropped off the squad list by his new club after a summer loan

Rasmus Kristensen heading the ball for Roma

Rasmus Kristensen in action for Roma

Rasmus Kristensen, who is on loan from Leeds United, is reportedly in danger of being benched by AS Roma when the Serie A team submits its Europa League squad list today.

This summer, Kristensen moved on loan to Roma after only playing for Leeds for one season and being relegated to the Premier League. His time in Serie A has not, however, had a smooth beginning.

Roma are prepared to remove the Leeds-owned defender off their squad list for the Europa League group stage, which they must submit by the end of the day, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.

Roma are only permitted to register five of their seven players due to limitations placed on the club by UEFA following a Financial Fair Play settlement.  Roma are only allowed to register five of their seven new signings from this summer’s transfer window in their Europa League squad.Roma are 'in advanced talks to sign Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen' | Daily Mail Online

And it’s thought that Kristensen, along with striker Sardar Azmoun, who joined on loan from Bayer Leverkusen before Roma’s deal to get Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea, may be one of the unfortunate two who miss the cut because they’re not seen as being as valuable to the team already.

It is unclear what impact this will have on Kristensen’s Serie A game time. He began both of Roma’s league games this season, but he didn’t finish either, and most recently, he didn’t play against AC Milan.

Competition causing Kristensen omission

At right-back for Roma, Jose Mourinho can also utilize Zeki Celik and Rick Karsdorp. This summer, both players were rumored to be leaving, but they have remained. It will be up to them and not Kristensen to represent Roma in the Europa League during the coming months.

The international player from Denmark is still under contract with Leeds through 2027. Kristensen’s loan agreement with Roma does not include a buyout clause, so unless he unexpectedly gains prominence in the Italian city, he might return to Elland Road in the future.
