£30M: Everton could finally sign Udinese striker Beto

Eye-catching Everton deal 'accepted' for dream Dyche striker; transfer could be agreed 'today'

Udinese coach Andrea Sottil admits Beto will be missed if the ‘formidable’ striker completes his £30 million move to Premier League outfit Everton.

As far as Sean Dyche is concerned, Beto’s arrival cannot come soon enough. It was a tale as old as time for Everton on Saturday. Some might even say Dyche’s side could not score for Toffee; drawing a blank yet again as Wolves snatched a late 1-0 win at Goodison Park a fortnight after Fulham did the same on the opening weekend.

Everton, bottom of the table and pointless, are the only team in the Premier League yet to score a goal in 2022/23. That is despite boasting an XG (Expected Goals tally) of over five.

It is no overstatement, then, to suggest that Beto is the very definition of a game-changing addition; his potential £30 million arrival handing Dyche a bucket of bullets after three games spent firing blanks.

Everton, according to BBC Sport, are closing in on a £30 million deal for the late-blooming number nine. Beto scored 21 goals in two Serie A seasons at Udinese, and Everton’s gain would be La Zebrette’s loss.

“There’s nothing official. Of course, if he went away, it wouldn’t be easy for us,” Sottil tells Tuttomercatoweb. “His way of attacking space is formidable.

“I don’t know what will happen with Beto. But I’m sure that, if he leaves, the club will get a striker.”

Beto is a long-time Everton target. The Merseysiders attempted to sign the 25-year-old in January too, Farhad Moshiri’s infamous striker promise going unfulfilled. Physically imposing, technically gifted and a terrific athletic, Beto has often been likened to one of the finest centre-forwards in world football.

“He has enormous room for improvement,” explains Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino. “We can only be happy for him, and enjoy him as long as we can.

“He has the characteristics to become a footballer very similar to Victor Osimhen.”
