Unpleasant phrase I am disappointed that we were unable to leave with the three points

Jamie Shackleton: I’m disappointed we couldn’t come away with the three points

Midfielder on West Brom draw.

Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton spoke exclusively to LUTV following Friday’s draw with West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road. The 23-year-old produced a standout performance for the Whites in the 1-1 stalemate, which kept Leeds unbeaten on home soil.

However, the overriding feeling for Shackleton was frustration that Leeds were unable to come away with the victory.

“It’s a point on the board,” said Shackleton.

“We’re disappointed we’ve not yet got that first league win under our belt, and that is the aim in every game.

“Especially playing at home, to not grab all three points, when having enough chances to do so, is disappointing, but it’s a point on the board and a point closer to where we want to be.

“We created the chances and their goalkeeper made some great saves, Illan made a great save as well, but apart from that, he didn’t have to do too much compared to their goalkeeper.

“I’m disappointed we couldn’t put them away and come away with the three points instead of the one.

“In two of the games so far, we’ve shown character to come back and get something from the match, but we want to be the first to score, we don’t want to be the first to concede.

“With the way we want to play, trying to control games, going ahead would suit us a lot better.”

Attentions now switch to Portman Road, with the Whites set for a long away trip on Saturday and Shackleton looked ahead to that fixture.

He said: “We go into every game wanting to win.

“Ipswich will be a tough place to go this coming weekend, they’ve started really well, but we will go into it trying to get the three points and trying to get the first goal.”
