Breaking News: What is the secret to getting Patrick Mahomes back on track?…

Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, has had a tough start to the 2024-25 NFL season.

Despite completing over 69% of his passes (a career high), he’s thrown six touchdowns and five interceptions while suffering with turnovers and consistency.

While Mahomes has delivered standout plays, such as a 54-yard touchdown to Xavier Worthy against the Los Angeles Chargers, he’s also made costly mistakes, like an interception during the same game.

Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy believes the solution lies in Mahomes returning to basics and maintaining his composure.

“Staying calm and going back to the basics,” Nagy emphasized.

He explained that each play involves multiple elements, including protection, throws, and route execution, and that Mahomes needs to maintain a next-play mentality after errors.

“There’s no one better than him because he’s so competitive and wants to be great,” Nagy went on. “It’s a healthy pressure because he wants to excel.”

Mahomes’s pocket presence has also been a concern, as he’s been seen moving away from clean pockets or stepping into pressure situations.

This could stem from the unsettled left tackle situation, affecting his confidence.

Additionally, injuries to key receivers like Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown have limited his downfield options, adding to his struggles.

Upcoming Test Against the Saints

Despite these challenges, Mahomes has shown the ability to bounce back from rough patches.

Last season, he faced similar issues, which many linked to a lack of receiver talent.

Mahomes will face a big test on Monday night against the New Orleans Saints.

A solid performance in front of the cameras may be a watershed moment, marking a return to form and assisting the Chiefs in maintaining their winning streak.
