Michigan Wolverines Receive Unfortunate Loss…
Star QB Bryce Underwood Announces Departure
The Michigan Wolverines suffered a disappointing setback over the weekend, and the blow was made worse by news that their current quarterback, Bryce Underwood, is departing the program.
Underwood, a true freshman who was recently named Michigan’s starting quarterback by head coach Sherrone Moore, issued a statement this evening announcing his decision to leave Michigan. According to sources close to the quarterback, the departure stems from a combination of ongoing physical health concerns, uncertainty over his long-term role in the offense, and consideration of his future career path.
Coach Moore, speaking after the game, emphasized the magnitude of the moment: “It’s never easy when someone you believe in, someone as talented as Bryce, decides this is the right next step,” he said. He added that the decision was made with respect to Underwood’s wellbeing and what makes sense for his future. The Wolverines now face adjustments at the quarterback position and will need to rely on their depth moving forward.

Among those expected to be considered for the starting role are backup QBs Jadyn Davis and Mikey Keene, both of whom have shown flashes of potential and have been part of the rotation or pushed Underwood in practice.
Fans and analysts will now be watching closely to see how this change impacts Michigan’s approach for the rest of the season. The Wolverines still have several games remaining before postseason play, and every matchup counts.
Underwood’s statement expressed gratitude for his time wearing the maize and blue: “It was an honor to play for Michigan, to compete alongside my teammates and be coached by Coach Moore. This program means a lot to me. My decision wasn’t made lightly, but after a lot of reflection I believe this is what’s best for me.”
He did not immediately clarify whether he plans to transfer to another school, step away from playing, or shift his focus elsewhere in the sport.
