Just In: Injury Report for the Eagles and Buccaneers

Who missed the Eagles’ practice on Wednesday? The Eagles held a walkthrough, but a full practice would have left the team without wide receiver A.J. Brown (hamstring), lineman Lane Johnson (concussion), and wide receiver DeVonta Smith (concussion).

Brown has missed the past two games due to an injury. Johnson and Smith both had concussions during Sunday’s victory over New Orleans. Wide receiver Jahan Dotson stated that he is “extremely comfortable” with the offense if he is given a larger role this week. “I don’t know when my moment can be or will be, but making sure when I’m in that moment, I’m ready for it,” Dotson told the audience. Running back The NFL’s leading rusher, Saquon Barkley, is aware that if Brown and Smith are injured, Tampa Bay’s defense may focus more on him.

“Trust the game plan and trust your teammates and go out there and try to execute at a high level,” Barkley told the media. With a knee injury, cornerback Darius Slay, who was blocked out of bounds deep past the sideline at the end of Sunday’s game, would have been able to play the entire game. Both starting guards, Mekhi Becton (finger) and Landon Dickerson (wrist), would have been limited.

Who missed Buccaneers practice? The Buccaneers’ injury report for Wednesday is a doozy, with 16 players mentioned. Only four of the 16 players missed practice: wide receiver Kameron Johnson (ankle), defensive tackle Calijah Kancey (calf), and safety Antoine Winfield (foot).

The Buccaneers are expecting to acquire some reinforcements along the line of scrimmage after starting right tackle Luke Goedeke (concussion) and defensive tackle Vita Vea (knee) went down. Baker Mayfield, the Buccaneers quarterback, was sacked seven times in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. Without Vea, the Bucs are ranked 25th in the league for run defense.
