Ava Hunt, the daughter of the Kansas City Chiefs’ billionaire owner has been left “deeply wounded” in an accident whilst mountain hiking.
Her injuries resulted in her being rushed into ER and undergo emergency surgery on Monday, July 5.
Ava, born in 2007, announced she is okay on Instagram by reposting a photo of her and her mother onto the Stories feature in the early hours of Tuesday after the accident, which saw her injured and on painkillers.
Fortunately, the 18-year-old heir to Clark Hunt’s fortune seemed to be doing well the next morning as she tuned in to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France to watch Simone Biles and Team USA add to their medal haul.
“Update: surgery went very smoothly and I’m back at home watching my favorite @simonebiles!!,” Ava Hunt wrote via Instagram, back at home with her leg protected. “I’m feeling great (but I might still be a little drugged up).
“Thank you for all of your sweet messages and prayers!!”
We do not know which mountain she had an accident on or what kind of wound she sustained, but she is thankfully safe and survived more serious injuries.
It seems she was quickly discharged from the hospital and patched up again following the accident, which was announced by her mother, Tavia Shackles, via Instagram.
“This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike,” Shackles posted to the Meta-owned platform. “[And] went to ER for surgery on a deep wound.
“It has been a looong day. Praise God she’s in recovery and already smiling. Please pray for a quick & complete recovery!”

Hunt, who acquired the Chiefs in 2006 and has helped guide them to three Super Bowl wins, has three daughters through his marriage to Shackles, a Miss Missouri Teen USA pageant winner in 1993.
Gracie is his eldest and was been named as Miss Kansas, USA in 2021, whilst Ava is his middle child and Knobel is his youngest.
