The Daily Mail reported this month that Aston Villa want to sign Matej Kovar from Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The report claimed that Villa need to sign a cover goalkeeper and are looking at Kovar.

Idnes in Kovar’s native Czech Republic claimed last month that Villa want to sign the 23-year-old.

The Sun are now reporting that Manchester United are willing to sell the young goalkeeper leave in the summer transfer window.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Hull City and Red Star Belgrade are on the hunt for Kovar.

The Red Devils are reportedly ready to send the goalkeeper out on loan or offload him on a permanent basis.

That United are reportedly willing to sell Kovar is a boost to Villa’s chances of signing him.

It is unlikely that the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners would ask for a lot of money for the ex-Czech Republic Under-21 international goalkeeper.

Kovar has yet to make an impact in the United first team, but he has done well in his loan spells away from Old Trafford.

The youngster has been out on loan at Swindon Town, Burton Albion and Sparta Prague in recent seasons.

Emiliano Martinez is the first-choice goalkeeper at Villa, and Kovar would be his back-up if he joined the Villans.

Villa are going places under former Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain manager Unai Emery.

The Villans will be aiming to challenge for a top-six place in the Premier League table this season.
