Even though the 2024 season is still four months away, things are beginning to feel more real. The Cleveland Browns’ rookie minicamp opens today, the second Friday in May, and the NFL schedule will be revealed the following week.
We discussed a rumor earlier today stating that the Browns and OL Zach Zinter from their 2024 NFL draft class had reached a consensus. Zinter was the first draft pick (out of six) to apparently accept a contract. We announced the signing of nine undrafted free agents by the organization shortly after the NFL draft.
As of right now, the team has revealed that five of their six draft selections have been signed:
- OL Zak Zinter
- WR Jamari Thrash
- LB Nathaniel Watson
- CB Myles Harden
- DT Jowon Briggs
The only player chosen who has chosen not to sign is Michael Hall Jr. Limitations on rookie deals allow for a little longer time to be spent on first- and second-round picks.
In addition, Cleveland announced the official release of offensive lineman Dawson Deaton and the signing of seven undrafted free agents.
- OL Javion Cohen
- S Christopher Edmonds
- C.B. Dyshawn Gates
- LB Winston Reid
- RB Aidan Robbins
- OL Lorenzo Thompson
- TE Treyton Welch
They were all seven on our first report. OL Jalen Sundell and WR Amarean Brown are the two who were not disclosed as signing. After it was reported that Brown had signed as if the transaction had been finalized, Brown spoke with The OBR:
Brown said to The OBR, “It’s special to learn from those (receivers).” “Amari Cooper has been Mr. Consistent for a long time and is undoubtedly one of the top route runners in the league. Jerry Jeudy, we’ve seen his routes even at Alabama, and his incredible separation technique is impressive. Man, I can’t wait to learn from those men alone.
