NFL Rumors: Raiders Sign Andrus Peat to Contract; OL Started 102 Games for Saints

The Las Vegas Raiders have signed former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Andrus Peat, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Peat, drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft by the Saints, has spent his entire career with New Orleans, earning three Pro Bowl nods. The 30-year-old has started 102 games with Saints.

The veteran now gives the Raiders some help up front after the team picked up a pair of offensive linemen in the NFL draft.

In 809 snaps played in 2023, Peat notched a 60.2 PFF grade and allowed two sacks. Peat has spent the majority of his career playing left guard, but transitioned to a full-time left tackle in 2023.

It’s unclear where Las Vegas plans to put Peat on the offensive line with Kolton Miller occupying the left tackle spot. The Raiders are also likely set with their current guards in Dylan Parham and Jackson Powers-Johnson, who they picked up in the second round.

Peat could transition to right tackle, where Thayer Munford Jr. is expected to be the starter, but Las Vegas has an offseason ahead of it to decide exact positioning.

The Raiders offensive line fared decently in 2023, allowing 40 sacks on the year, but beefing up the front group is never a bad idea.

Las Vegas is coming off an 8-9 season that saw it miss the postseason for a second straight year and part ways with head coach Josh McDaniels. After landing some solid talent in the draft, including Georgia start tight end Brock Bowers, the Raiders are looking to get back into the postseason in 2024.
