*It’s true that the Dallas Cowboys expected head coach Mike McCarthy to heal miraculously from an appendectomy that occurred midweek. Of course, they’re hoping that legendary radio personality Brad Sham will return to the booth after missing the game the previous week and spending the weekend in the hospital.
McCarthy declared, “I’m ready to go,” during the pregame on 105.3 The Fan, so everything is good there. Everything is well. The way we operate will remain unchanged. Everything is how it is.
To be honest, though, all they really need for Sunday night’s NFC East game at AT&T Stadium against the Philadelphia Eagles is for Dak Prescott to be Dak Prescott.
A testament to the progress made in contemporary medicine is the fact that my mother spent a week in the hospital in 1975 after developing acute appendicitis. McCarthy underwent the identical procedure on Wednesday morning, was discharged in the afternoon, and is anticipated to be out for four days.

Warm regards to McCarthy. Brad, Godspeed. Above all, though, if you want to call this a Dallas victory, make sure Dak is fit and present at the stadium on Sunday night at 7:20.
*Luka Doncic or Dirk Nowitzki looked the best wearing it? On December 16, 2009, Dirk made his headband debut while scoring 35 points and pulling down 11 rebounds to help the Mavericks defeat the Thunder and move to 19-7.

*It’s okay, Florida State—the College Football Playoff committee made the correct decision.The four finest and most worthy teams are Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama. The Seminoles did indeed win 13-0. I’m sort of sorry. But there are a few reasons why they shouldn’t be in the top four.
1. They each had three victories against the Top 25 while the remaining four had three victories over No. 13 LSU.
2. They have regressed into Iowa in the two games after losing starting quarterback Jordan Travis, with a strong defense and an offense that could not muster field goals. Midway into the fourth quarter, Florida State was trailing 5-7 Florida and was only able to muster one touchdown against a Louisville defense that had given up 38 and 31 points the previous two weeks. A historical perspective in response to the “What more could we have possibly done?” claims: Early in Ohio State’s victory over Michigan in 2014, starting quarterback J.T. Barrett sustained an injury that ended his season. In addition to defeating the rival Wolverines by 14 points, the Buckeyes defeated Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big Ten Championship Game thanks to backup quarterback Cardale Jones. They advanced, defeated Oregon and Alabama, and took home the championship. And Ohio State was just as good with their backup. Florida State wasn’t the same, worthy team without their starter.

*Aww, sweetie!The wife of Rangers player Marcus Semien gave birth to their fourth child right before the ALCS. Luka’s fiancée gave birth to a baby girl last week, making him a father. Additionally, Prescott and his fiancée recently disclosed that they plan to welcome their first kid in March. There’s a pattern that I notice. What pleasantly surprises me is that I don’t see: DFW’s Bible thumpers’ outrage about Dak and Doncic’s willingness to engage in unmarried sex.
