Just one day after the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office sent a news release requesting assistance in finding Sutton, the Lions made their announcement.
Law enforcement said that Sutton is wanted for strangling domestic abuse.
According to a sheriff’s office representative who talked with the Detroit Free Press, a warrant was issued on March 7 following the department’s response to a complaint of domestic violence that morning between Sutton and an unidentified female.
Spokesman Phil Martello told the publication on Wednesday that “we served his warrant on the seventh because of all the evidence that we gathered there.”
He was nowhere to be found in Tampa. I’m pretty sure he ran away. This is where we are at the moment. We have received a few hits on his license plate (on license plate readers), but we haven’t been able to locate him.
On a domestic violence charge in Florida, the Lions’ Cameron Sutton is wanted.
After six seasons as a player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sutton signed a $33 million, three-year contract with the Lions last season.
He was a major contributor to the team’s victories in two postseason playoff games and a division title for the first time in thirty years, both of which came about as a result of his efforts.
