The ex-partner of Travis Kelce defends his choice to unfollow Patrick Mahomes and Brittany
Speaking out about her public unfollowing of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his wife Brittany Mahomes, Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole is giving an explanation.
In case you missed it, more than a year after splitting with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, one of Patrick’s teammates and close friends, Kayla clicked the unfollow button on both of their Instagram profiles last month.
The social media post ended up becoming widely reported, as it coincided with Travis intensifying his relationship with girlfriend Taylor Swift, who has now become close friends with 28-year-old Brittany.
However, Kayla is now explaining why she unfollowed people, saying in a recent interview that the circumstances are far more complicated than most people understand.
Kayla said that she has previously had a private conversation with Brittany about the matter. “I do think it’s important to publicly address this because I did publicly unfollow people,” Kayla told reporters. “The truth is, I actually know these individuals. Therefore, I have explained to these individuals in real life why I had to make the decisions that I did in public.”
The fitness guru was once Brittany’s close friend and was invited to her eight-person bachelorette weekend in February 2022. She had dated Travis for five years prior. In addition, she and Brittany went wedding dress shopping prior to her March 2022 marriage to Patrick.
Kayla argued to the source, “That’s not reality. To everyone it’s like, ‘Oh, you broke up a year ago,’ and that meant it was like a light switch, you turn it on and off and everything goes dead and black and you don’t ever speak to anyone ever again.” I maintain contact with every individual concerned.”
And how are Kayla and Brittany doing right now? The statement read, “[Brittany] knows that I love her.”
However, Kayla persisted that she felt the need to “protect” herself when she decided to stop following her pals.
She emphasized, “That’s really all that is.” “The love is still there.”
She said, “I have to move forward and everyone has to respect that.”
