Three-star wide receiver Joakim Dodson (Collierville, Tenn.) committed to the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday. Dodson is a 2025 prospect.
Joakim Dodson, a wide receiver from Collierville High School, visited Tennessee on junior day and after many staff visits, he officially committed to the Tennessee Volunteers. Dodson stands 6-1 and 181 pounds. Being only the second commit from Tennessee thus far, he chose the Volunteers over the Missouri Tigers. Dodson talked with Volunteer Country after pledging to tell us why Tennessee was his top choice for an academic institution.
It was an obvious choice for me because I had great relationships with the personnel and felt completely at home there. I look forward to going there every time. He was questioned after making his opening remarks about what set Tennessee apart from the other candidates. Dodson continues, “It was an easy option because of my fantastic relationship with this staff; they observed my improvement from my 9th grade year to now and have believed in me for a long time, even before I was the player that I am today.”
When questioned about a particular coach he clicked with, the gifted in-state prospect said yes. Coach Kelsey Pope, without a doubt! I appreciate that when I meet with Coach Pope, it’s exactly like how my dad taught me how to play receiver. That’s my guy because he’s not just an amazing coach but also an even greater person, and we chat about things other than football off the field.
“One of the best receivers in the country, very dynamic, can go inside and outside, can win vs. press/man coverage, and just a big-time playmaker,” Joakim Dodson said when asked what talent he believes he can offer to Tennessee. When asked which commit he is most eager to play ball with in the future, the gifted Tennessee wide receiver committed. “George, for sure, but I’m eager to play with all the responsibilities; at Rocky Top, we’re creating something truly unique!”
When asked about targets, he also made an extremely interesting statement. “I have no goals in mind, but I’m going to pursue every male in my state! Come take part in something truly remarkable that is about to happen!
This year, Tennessee has a plethora of excellent but uncommitted players, including CJ Jimcoily, Kris Thompson, Daune Morris, Ethan Utley, Jaylan Morgan, Cameron Sparks, and many more.Lastly, a question about his level of dedication to Tennessee was posed to him. “It’s not shutdown, but I’m committed to Tennessee,” he affirms.
