Jason Kelce, the center for the Philadelphia Eagles, disputes deciding to retire.

Jason Kelce, the center for the Philadelphia Eagles, has disputed that he has made the decision to retire, saying that he is “too emotional” after his team’s play-off exit to decide on his future.

According to US media, following the loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 36-year-old announced his retirement to his teammates.

Yet Kelce denied having made the choice on his New Heights podcast.

“It’s difficult to completely comprehend that choice right now because so much is happening,” Kelce remarked.

After a game like that, I just don’t think you’re in a position to truly make that decision. Right now, there’s too much feeling.

“I’m not attempting to drag things out in an exaggerated manner. Actually, I’m not.

“When the time comes to make a formal announcement, I want to do so in a way that honors the many individuals who have shaped my career and have meant a great deal to me.”

The Eagles picked Kelce in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft. He has played his entire career for the organization, and in 2018 he won the Super Bowl.

In week six of the season, he made his 145th straight start for the Eagles, shattering the franchise record. He signed a one-year contract in March of last year.
