NFL star Jonathan Owens has been accused of lying aboutSimone Biles and how they met after he earlier said he didn’t know who she was when they matched on a dating app

He also said men are the catch in a relationship, despite his partner being far more famous, but regardless, Biles didn’t take any of it personally and laughed along with him, even rolling her eyes, showing that she seemed to consider it little more than friendly banter.

Now he’s been accused of lying after fans pulled up an old tweet when he discussed the United States’ gymnastics team back in 2012, when Biles was a member of the troop as they ran riot at the Olympic Games in London.

But that doesn’t mean he actually knew her. Sure he may have read her name and looked at her face, but how many times does that happen in a day? To someone not involved in, nor following, gymnastics she was probably easily forgettable.

What had Owens said?

After he attracted criticism his comments, Biles later posted a photo of them at their wedding in April 2023 captioned “Mood”, showing that she was unbothered by the reaction of the press and fans. Owens later used the word “unbothered” in his own post as they echoed each other’s sentiment.

Biles has further retweeted people defending her husband as the press and discourse continues to present him as self-absorbed and arrogant, but how did they meet according to him? Why did they not know each other?

“I didn’t know who she was at the time,” Owens said to “But like the first thing that I saw was that she just had a bunch of followers. So in my mind, I’m like, okay, she got to be good.
