Breaking News: ravens head coach sign in a new player……….

QB Malik Cunningham signed by the Ravens off the Patriots practice squad

On Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Foxborough, Massachusetts, during the second half of an NFL preseason football game against the Houston Texans, New England Patriots quarterback Malik Cunningham (16) scurries out of the pocket.

Malik Cunningham, a quarterback, was signed by the Ravens from the Patriots practice squad, bringing the team’s quarterback count to 53.

In 2017, Cunningham was a true freshman, and Lamar Jackson was Jackson’s final college season teammate at Louisville.

Cunningham expressed gratitude to Bill Belichick, the head coach of the Patriots, and owner Robert Kraft for his time in New England.

Cunningham told ESPN’s Adam Schefter, “I wanted to thank Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick for providing me the opportunity to play with the Patriots.” “They taught me a lot of things. As one of the best coaches of all time, Coach Belichick is someone I would study under if I ever wanted to become a coach. In New England, I forged lifelong friendships and had fantastic colleagues. But I simply think that this is a fantastic chance for me, and I can’t wait to play for the Baltimore Ravens.”

After going undrafted in April, the 25-year-old Cunningham signed with the Patriots and has been a member of the practice squad for the majority of the season. Despite being added to New England’s active roster for the previous two games, he did not play quarterback.

He spent the summer practicing at quarterback and wide receiver for the Patriots. Cunningham, a quarterback like Jackson, is incredibly athletic and completed the 40-yard dash in 4.53 seconds at the Combine.

Cunningham was a four-year starter at Louisville University, completing 691 of 1,104 passes for 9,660 yards and 70 touchdowns. In addition, he averaged 5.1 yards per carry while running for 3,170 yards and 50 touchdowns.

Cunningham will now have the opportunity to grow in Baltimore, trailing veterans Josh Johnson and Tyler Huntley in addition to Jackson. Given that Johnson is only signed for one season and Huntley is not, Cunningham may be able to contend for the No. 2 quarterback spot in the summer.

When the Patriots players learned that Cunningham was going to Baltimore, they expressed their gratitude and respect for him.
