The Ohio State Buckeyes fell short of making the College Football Playoffs this season, but running back TreVeyon Henderson is looking to God.

“I thank God. He’s helped me and allowed me to come back out here and give my team everything I’ve got. Me being out is all because of Him. I give all of my glory to Him,” Henderson said, per Athletes in Action.

After a rough, injure-filled 2022 season, Henderson shared how his faith transformed his perspective.

“I’m not the same person who I was,” he told 247Sports. “I gave my life to God. Ever since I gave my life to God, that’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Nothing compares to the contentment and serenity that result from giving my life to Him. I’m excited and happy now.”

“After the surgery, I just looked back at how things went in the past and my childhood,” he added. “I looked back and realized how much I went through. I kept it honest with how last season went. Looking back at those things, I felt like I could have been a better person. That’s when I decided to get into my faith and just try to better myself as a person through the Lord. He has helped me come so far and overcome so much. I’m glad he guided me to come into Him. Whatever obstacles come my way; I know God will guide me through it all. He will keep me lifted and keep me strong.”

In addition to focusing on Christ, Henderson prepared harder than ever to become the best possible leader for his team.

“I just learned how to be a leader and be there for my teammates,” he expressed. “I couldn’t play on the field, but the best thing I could do was try to lead those guys in practice and in the games and just be there for those guys the best that I could.

“During spring practice, while I was watching those guys I tried to lead them and encourage them,” he continued. “I’m just a positive guy and spread love and spread kindness. I try to treat everyone with that respect. That’s just who I am off the field. Last year, I had some things that didn’t go my way. The best I could, I tried to come here and be positive each and every way.”
